NFDHR launches the project of WASH for IDP camps in Dhamar and Sa

National Foundation for Development and Humanitarian Response (NFDHR) has launched emergency response project in WASH and camp management activities for IDPs in Jahran district (Dhamar) and Al-Safra and Sahar districts (Sa'ada), funded by Yemen Humanitarian Fund (YHF).
During the introductory workshop held on Saturday, October 2, the project manager, Eng. Abdul-Salam Al-Sumairi, presented the project's activities in the field of WASH, the implementation stages and the positive impact of the project.
The project aims to respond to urgent needs of displaced families in terms of water, environmental sanitation and hygiene, and to support the management of IDPs hosting camps through capacity building and simple maintenance activities.
The main activities of the project include the rehabilitation of two water schemes in the Ma'abar and Dammaj areas, and the installation of two solar powered pumps; besides training 69 IDPs in livelihood skills, and carrying out clean-up campaigns in IDP settlement sites in Jahran and Sahar districts using a cash-for-work mechanism. This is in addition to supplying 4830 cubic meters of water, the construction of 36 bathrooms and the rehabilitation of 18 bathrooms and 4 concrete sewage tanks in two IDP camps of Al-Wahda and Al-Salam in Ma'abar city.
 
The activities also include carrying out minor maintenance works in 3 sites for IDPs gatherings in Sahar district.
