Press release: NFDHR is granted the special consultative status with the Economic and Social Council – United Nations

The United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) at its 18th session, held early November in New York, USA, endorsed the recommendation of the Committee on Non-Governmental Organizations to grant the National Foundation for Development and Humanitarian Response (NFDHR) a special consultative status to the Council.

The United Nations Economic and Social Council stated that the decision to grant NFDHR special consultative status will enable NFDHR to participate in the meetings of the United Nations General Assembly, the subsidiary bodies of the Economic Council and the United Nations Human Rights Council.
NFDHR is granted consultative status for its eligibility and fulfillment of all international requirements and standards for NGOs.

NFDHR CEO, Dr. Fares Al-Waeel, considered the decision as crowning the cumulative efforts and continuous distinguished work of NFDHR throughout the past nine years in relief and development fields.

He stressed that this consultative status will enable NFDHR convey the voices of the people and the most vulnerable groups of women and children, in addition to continuing its work in achieving the goals of sustainable development through its programs and projects in Yemen.
