NFDHR contributes to the stability of the educational process in Al-Matoun

Al Mutton District, one of the districts of Al-Jawf governorate, witnessed serious instability among the educational process.  This instability exacerbated student enrollment in schools, as well as the large waves of displacement, which caused congestion in the education process in general.

The deficit of teachers was exacerbated by the significant increase in the number of students, as there was no capacity to accommodate the large and increasing number of displaced students.  The employment process of teachers in the district stopped eight years ago.  The concerned authorities were unable to pay their wages which caused many of them to be moved to other areas. All of this led to the disruption of the educational system and the loss of many female students in certain schools, which threatened the most important pillar of building future generations.

In the academic year 2018-2019, the National Foundation for Development and Humanitarian Response (NFDHR) intervened by providing financial incentive to 100 volunteer teachers for six months, which benefit about 4170 students. This was confirmed by Mr. Abdullah Al-Rubai, Director of the Education Office in the District, delegate of the National Authority in the district. He praised the role of NFDHR  by saying : "We thank NFDHR  for its great role and its contribution to the stability of the education process in the district  through the support of 100 unpaid teachers in 24 schools in Al Mutoon District. "

"The educational process in Al  Matoun district this year has witnessed great stability and regularity in the school hours thanks to NFDHR. They have contributed to covering the deficit of teachers in the district, who were then, in turn, able to absorb the increase in the number of students due to displacement in the District ."

Student numbers at the school reached up to 887 and there was no support from available, until the NFDHR came along . They covered the deficit and we were able to overcome the problems and settled the educational process in the school. The school did not witness any drop out of students, but dozens of students returned after they knew of the availability of teachers and found stability in the educational process.”

Here, we thank NFDHR for its efforts and its great contribution to the stability of the educational process.

Many students expressed their satisfaction with NFDHR’s initiative by describing: "This is the first time we have studied Mathematics and English in five years. We are also studying five to six lessons a day this year compared to the previous years where we were only studying three lessons a day."

Mohammed Dhobar, delegate of the National Authority in the district, praised NFDHR for their by saying: "We thank NFDHR for its great role and its contribution to the stability of the education process in the district through the support of 100 unpaid teachers in 24 schools in Al Mutoon district in Al Jawf Governorate.”
